I've now ordered a C.vagus colony with 20-40 workers to replace my doomed C.cruentatus colony. Perhaps I'll have more success with an established colony of the Camponotus genera. I don't want to destroy the C.cruentatus colony but would rather give it away to someone who could perhaps save them. I'll even pay the p+p so any takers?

I'm sure your new colony will do much better.

No problem, I have this species anyways If you want I'll send you some queens in August if i find any, this should give you a larger chance of creating a colony. When you get your Vagus I will be very intruiged as to see how they do.

Thanks but I really only have the room for 2 Camponotus colonys. Plus I don't want to get too carried away with my ant obsession lol. 4 colonies is more than enough. I still have my C.ligniperda queen and hopefully, fingers crossed, her colony will be a success.

I have a ytong from queenant ready to set-up but I want to keep the colony in the viv for a while like liberants, I love his videos. Anyway I want to buy a smaller foraging area from antstore to hook up to the ytong and can't afford to spend to much atm.

And allow you to do much more in my opinion. My Myrmica love their ytong setup!

Try putting the heatmat on the side of the vivarium instead

Try putting the heatmat on the side of the vivarium instead good idea though the heat mats are doing fine now with the cardboard I'm using.
